Orange Rice & Spice Breakfast

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 2 cups water
  • milk, to cover rice
  • salt
  • 1/2 cup dry milk
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (i don't like nutmeg, so i wouldn't use but a dash, but its your choice)
  • 1/4 cup ground nuts
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • orange slice, to garnish (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 mix rice water and salt in a saucepan.
  • 2 bring to a boil, stir, cover and reduce to a simmer.
  • 3 simmer 35-40 minutes or until rice is cooked.
  • 4 add milk to cover rice.
  • 5 stir in remaining ingredients and cook over medium heat until heated through.
  • 6 garnish with orange slices, if desired.
