Rice With Green Peas

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 cups uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 -2 tablespoon caraway seed
  • 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed chicken broth
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper (to taste)
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen english peas, thawed

Recipe

  • 1 saute the first 3 ingredients in butter in a dutch oven for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • 2 stir in broth, water, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil; cover, decrease heat, and simmer 20 minutes.
  • 3 add in peas; cook 5 minutes.
