Rice Porridge With Raisin Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 -3 cup milk (depending on personal taste)
  • 1 teaspoon margarine
  • 2 cups uncooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups water or 4 cups fruit juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • cornstarch, and
  • water, to thicken
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 porridge: boil the rice in the water until it is soft or all the water is absorbed.
  • 2 add the milk and cook slowly 20 to 30 minutes, stirring often.
  • 3 add the salt, sugar and margarine.
  • 4 sauce: boil the raisins in the wateror fruit juice with the lemon juice and cinnamon sticks.
  • 5 add the sugar and continue cooking over low heat, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of cold water.
  • 6 gradually add the cornstarch and water mixture to the sauce, continuing to stir.
  • 7 when the sauce is thick, remove from the heat.
