Skillet Macaroni And Cheese

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sweet onions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
  • 3/4 lb velveeta cheese, cubed

Recipe

  • 1 cook macaroni, according to the package directions.
  • 2 meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • 3 add onion and saute over low heat for about 2 minutes.
  • 4 stir in flour until smooth.
  • 5 stir in salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  • 6 gradually add cream; bring to a boil.
  • 7 cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  • 8 reduce heat.
  • 9 stir in cheese until melted.
  • 10 drain macaroni; add to cheese mixture.
  • 11 cook and stir for 3-4 minutes or until heated through.
